Anyone who thinks of Zeeland will soon come across the story of the water in addition to sun, sea and beach. Storms and spring tides that roar furiously and flood disasters that have left their mark through the ages. The Zeelanders have meanwhile curbed the water with the delta works and thus dominated the landscape that has been shaped by the battle against the water.
Many of the drowned villages are no more than a memory or the remains of them lie under water. The Plompetoren is such a surviving monument of turbulent times with stormy weather and fatal consequences. This church tower dominates the landscape of the Oosterschelde and is the last remnant of the drowned village of Koudekerke, which has disappeared into the waves.
By using different techniques and combining them with perspective and composition, I create the own dynamics that are often recognizable for my photography work.
