Bouvigne Castle is slightly hidden on the edge of the Mastbos in Breda. It is an old mansion from the 15th - 16th century that was bought in 1614 by Philip-Willem, the eldest son and heir of his murdered father William of Orange. He was baron of Breda from 1609 to 1618. In 1624 it went up in flames during the siege of Breda by the Spanish General Spinola.
The castle was later rebuilt and was in the possession of the Princes of Orange for a long time
