The Delta Works in Zeeland, one of the most famous and perhaps one of the most special achievements in the field of water management and architecture in our country. The Oosterscheldekering is the largest and most famous Deltawork and one of the most iconic with its endless rows of concrete piers. Photographed with a slow shutter speed, which tempers the dynamics of the water and silently exaggerates the clouds, what remains is the imposingness of this structure and the power it radiates when it rises proudly above the water and resists the flowing water.
The Oosterscheldekering or storm surge barrier is without doubt the most impressive part of the Delta Works. The barrier is 9 kilometers long and consists of two rows of pier dams with a total of 65 enormous concrete piers and 63 slides. It is also a road connection between Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord-Beveland.
