Located on a breakwater at the harbor mouth of the Oosterscheldekering, this Radar tower is close to the well-known work island Neeltje Jans. The Scheldt radar tower is important for detecting and tracking shipping in the approach area of the Western Scheldt and its estuaries towards the Steenbank anchorage area in the North Sea. The tower is a Dutch-Belgian collaboration and ensures safe shipping traffic to Flemish and Dutch ports on the Scheldt.
At no less than 118 meters high, it protrudes majestically above the flat landscape of Zeeland. Beautifully set against a Dutch cloudy sky with summery blue and large thick white quilting woks.
